Ghost Palace FAQs

It’s been more than 6 years since the last iteration of this amazing party, then entitled LOVEBOAT HALLOWEEN, (and before that GHOSTSHIP) at Pier 70. Much has changed in the world, and likewise we have a new venue, new artists, new producers and an incredible new venue. The FAQ’s below should help clarify some of the most common questions we are hearing. To ask more, please use our FACEBOOK EVENT, which we will be monitoring until doors open on the 28th.

WHAT IS GHOST PALACE
Ghost Palace is a Halloween extravaganza & dance party. It’s a multi-space, multi-soundsystem Halloween-themed event featuring the contributions of more than 100 musicians, djs, creative artists, producers, photographers, videographers, lighting designers, dancers, performance artists, drag queens, clowns, face painters and every other type of creative human you can imagine.

WILL THIS SELL OUT?
Our previous Halloween events typically did sell out, and this is actually a smaller venue than Pier 70 was. We encourage you to get advance tickets in advance
HERE. Please note that ticket prices go up as levels sell out and will be most expensive at the door.

CAN I EARN A DISCOUNT/FREE TICKET?
As we always have, Ghost Palace 23 has a work-exchange program that will run from Tuesday, October 24, all the way through the night of the show. Earn a ticket by helping to build art or passing out headphones on the night of the show.

IS THIS AN EVENT FOR FAMILIES & KIDS?
No. This is a 21+ event for adults. All attendees will need to show 21+ legal ID to enter. Note, that while we loved producing our ‘kids & dogs day’ events at the old venue we will not have one for 2023. If all goes well this year, we will look to bring back kids & dogs in 2024.

WHERE IS GHOST PALACE
Ghost Palace ’23 is inside the historic Palace of Fine Arts building at 3601 Lyon Street in San Francisco.
Take a virtual tour of this incredible space on the venue HERE. Those of you who recall the original Exploratorium space, remember how dynamic and beautiful a canvas it will be for our creative efforts and for your effervescent joy.

  • HOW DO I GET THERE? – Address is: 3601 Lyon St, San Francisco 94123

  • RIDESHARE/TAXI – By far the safest, most reliable method.

  • MUNI & BUS – Check the Muni Map for the best route. Some of the closest bus lines will be the 28, the 43 and the 22. Please do your own homework.

  • DRIVING & PARKING – We have paid VIP-type Parking in the adjacent Presidio Lot for $40/car. There are only 100 spots available so we recommend ADVANCE PURCHASE on our HERE. There is additional street parking available but be mindful of parking signs, street cleaning etc. Make smart choices. Respect the neighbors. Don’t block driveways and please be quiet coming to and from your vehicle. DO NOT LEAVE VISIBLE ITEMS OR VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE.

IS GHOST PALACE OUTDOORS BY THAT LAKE?
NO. This event takes place INSIDE the building. All sound systems and entertainment will be contained inside the space out of respect for our neighbors. We will also have an outdoor area with food trucks, smoking, and bathrooms. The Palace Theater, and the outdoor area many are familiar with (where you often see wedding photos being taken) will not be a part of this event. Trust us, we have more than enough venue. If you don’t believe us, again,
take a virtual tour.

WHAT TIME IS GHOST PALACE?
Doors open at 9PM and the event ends at 4AM

WHO IS PUTTING ON THIS EVENT?
Ghost Palace 23 is being produced by three of San Francisco’s most renowned event production teams,
Electroluxx, HUSHconcerts and Non Plus Ultra Inc. All three teams bring decades of experience and creativity to what will be a truly spectacular event.

IS THIS THE SAME AS THE OLD LOVEBOAT/GHOSTSHIP SHOW?
‘No’, and ‘Yes’, and ‘Maybe’ — All of the producers of Ghost Palace were involved in producing those seminal Halloween events. We are working tirelessly to make sure that favorite elements from those awesome parties will be a part of this new one. Of course, times have changed as well. Some of the original creators have moved on to other pursuits, and sadly some have even passed on (
RIP Tigre Mashaal-Lively). Thankfully, the Bay Area is an endlessly evolving catalyst for artists & creativity. We have an enormous amount of new art, contributors, performers and music artists to share with you at Ghost Palace ‘23. None of our events have ever been the same, and that’s part of the fun.

WILL THERE BE LIVE SOUND AT GHOST PALACE?
YES! Our main stage will feature a glorious Meyer Sound line array system which will propel the music of our headliners, Mz Worthy, Fort Knox Five, David Harness, Provocateur etc… in the Atrum area. We will also have three other live sound areas, Candyland, The Lounge, and the Channel X Theater. Additionally, we will feature a San Francisco’ record 6-Channel (Yes, SIX!) Silent Disco on the Mezzanine using HUSHconcerts’ exclusive HUSHglow headphones (the ones Coachella uses). This means that you will be able to visit live sound areas, or go on the Mezzanine and choose between 6 different lineups of DJs. There are more than 50 music performers at this event and 7 hours to enjoy them.

WILL THERE BE BARS?
YES. With beer, wine, and cocktails throughout the venue.
NOTE THAT THESE WILL BE CASH-ONLY BARS

WILL THERE BE FREE WATER?
YES. Because we have public bathrooms in the Palace you are welcome to fill up water bottles, Camelbaks etc in the sinks. This water is direct from SFO’s
Hetch-Hetchie water system, frequently lauded as some of the best public water in the world. Additionally we will be selling water in aluminum cans, which you can refill in the sinks.

WILL I NEED TO BRING CASH?
We will have multiple ATMS throughout the venue but we encourage you to bring cash to save time.

IS THERE A COAT CHECK?
Yes. We will have a coat-check/bagcheck near the main entrance.

ARE THERE REAL BATHROOMS?
YES. Unlike our previous venues, the Palace of Fine Arts has several public bathrooms. We will additionally have portalets outside to keep things… flowing.

OUR SAFETY GOALS
We want folks to have a wonderful experience, so we are asking everyone to participate in ensuring this is a safe event. We will have a seasoned security & safety team that will be working with you to make sure you can have a blast. Additionally, rangers from SF Rec & Park Dept will be on site and outside.

WHAT IF SOMEONE CANCELS?
The Ghost Palace Lineup may be subject to change due to exigencies out of our control. We encourage you to check the website and facebook page for updates.

HOW CAN I DO MY PART ENSURE GHOST PALACE HAPPENS AGAIN?
Great question. Our primary responsibilities are to the safety of our patrons and staff and the well-being of our neighbors. Please be mindful of your safety and the safety of others as you enjoy yourself. Take care of others. If you see people having a hard time, please find someone on the safety team and get them assistance. We believe in HARM REDUCTION and our safety and EMT teams will be focused on HELPING. Additionally, we ask that you be respectful of our neighbors, by keeping quiet as you are getting to and from the event.

WHAT IF I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
The best place to ask them is on the event’s Facebook Page. We will do our best to answer them in a timely manner.
